HEAVEN AND HELL RECORDS Uncovering Lost Gems
April 27, 2010Beginning later in 2010, Heaven and Hell Records will launch a new series called "Lost Relics." Focusing on uncovering rare hard rock and heavy metal bands from the past, this series is by collectors for collectors.
Over the past 20 years, a large demand has continued to grow for obscure hard rock and heavy metal releases that have seen collectors paying outrageous prices for original vinyl and bootlegged releases. This high interest has established strong cult followings worldwide for some bands, and has even led to reunions of some bands.
In response to this interest, Heaven and Hell Records will be releasing, for the first time on CD, archived collections of some of metal's most highly sought-out treasures.
The first three releases in the series are:
* RITUAL (U.S.): New Jersey hard rock / traditional metallers who built a strong reputation in the late '80s throughout the upper East Coast, gaining them plenty of media attention from respected metal press. Throughout the '90s up to now RITUAL has been active and continues to record.
* OF THE FALLEN (U.S.): Underground symphonic black metal from Texas who released a 1998 self titled debut on Wild Rags. Their unique brand of black metal earned the band a respected place among their peers. The band has since changed their moniker to DEMONTUARY and is currently active.
* OVERLORD (Canada): Traditional heavy metal that raised a fair amount of media attention and label interest. In time the band would fade into obscurity only to rediscovered a rediscovered many years later by collectors. The band in some form would stay active and continue to record up to the present.
More titles will follow.
Each release will include:
* Archived recordings (album, EPs, single, demos, re-mastered material, etc.)
* All-new artwork (as well as original artwork represented)
* Extended bio and history of the bands
* Photo, news clippings, flyer galleries
Each volume of the "Lost Relics" series will be limited to 1,000 CDs and will not be repressed.
Commented the label: "We hope with the 'Lost Relics' series that fans and collectors alike will be happy with these releases and those to come. We would like to see this project continue long into the future. But most of all we hope that the bands will enjoy the releases and that the releases will be beneficial to the bands' futures and legacies."
